You might not recall this, but way back in the ninties the M in MTV actually stood for music. Not only was MTV the most important media for music in the world, but it was definitively leading the charge in promoting rap – real rap too! – to the masses of this planet, and for all we now – beyond. Yo! MTV Raps, who celebrated their aniversary recently by putting out a humongous amount of clips from the golden era of their show, has possibly been the inspiration for MTV´s newest move; they are putting out everything! Soon all you saw on MTV before it became bullshit can be found on mtv.com – in addition to a huge amount of interviews and clips.
Here in Oslo Norway the news arrived just in time for the snow marking the end of the seasons where you can hang around outside. Curl up beneath a blanket in front of mtv.com.
Public Enemy – Night of the living baseheads
NWA – Appetite for destruction
BDP – My Philosophy
Nas – It aint hard to tell
Ice-T – Original Gangster
Pharcyde – Drop
We claimed earlier that The Muppets versions of Fuck the police might be the best rap video ever. Bert & Ernie however blasts everything else out of the fucking frame with this version of MOP – Ante Up. Peep it!

Long time fans of UK Hip-Hop remember Hijack as one of the most hardhitting aggressive groups in Europe back in the early ninties. I myself originally got into rap after hearing the Hold No Hostage/Doomsday of Rap 12″ as a kid. Their album “The Horns of Jerico” remains on the top of my Classic Albums-list. Until now I was unware of any Hijack music video, until this one turned up on Youtube. The track sticks out a bit from the album as less brutal sounding than the rest, but it still is a really dope track and it was real fun seeing the old style video. Is there more videos? Let us know if you know.
